Saturday Bread Class

I have had a great response for this Saturday's bread class. You are going to be so amazed at how easy these bread recipes are -- there are so many different bread recipes running around out there, we'll have to redo this class again from time to time -- from basic wheat bread to quick breads to yeast breads to sourdough to Amish Friendship Bread -- and the list goes on.

This Saturday the class will run from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. It will be a couple of quick and easy breads... we will show you how to make 2-3 of them, but for one of the bread recipes, if you want, you can bring your own ingredients (wait until you see the list--you will think, you can make bread from THIS?) and a big bowl and take home the start. Your family and friends will be amazed at your breadmaking skills.

If you want to take it with you, here are the ingredients you need to bring:

13 cups of flour (can be all white, half white and half wheat or all wheat flour)
3 Tbsp yeast (I prefer SAF yeast -- best on the market)
3 Tbsp salt (I also prefer sea salt -- I have some if you don't)
6 cups of water (of course, you don't have to bring that)

You will also need to bring a VERY LARGE plastic or glass bowl that has a lid. If you are my age, you probably have a large "potato salad" bowl from Tupperware with lid. That is PERFECT for this recipe.

If you want, you CAN half the recipe, but I prefer making the larger recipe because, as you will see on Saturday, it can stay in your refrigerator up to two weeks! Much easier to make one batch and have it last two weeks than to have to make the starter again in a week or so.

THAT IS IT! You won't believe that the bread can taste this good with only those ingredients. And, best of all, NO KNEADING --

Come and see it to believe it!

We will have recipes for everyone and a demonstration of each step in the process for both breads.

Can't wait to see everyone -- should be a good group of ladies and we promise not to keep you more than an hour if you have other things going on. This is a quick and easy class!

Also, for those of you who still haven't picked up your first aid kit supplies, they are sitting on my dining room floor and I would love to have them picked up before my Thanksgiving meal :) THANKS EVERYONE!

P.S. I am heading off to Salt Lake later this morning to attend a class/gathering on Pressure Cooking by my favorite friend, Anitra Kerr (www.simplylivingsmart.com) . Be watching for a class on pressure cooking that will follow....

HAVE A GREAT DAY! Susan
